My Mother always called this her “Secret Sauce”. In fact, she told me she had found it in Good Housekeeping Magazine, and it became a secret when other ladies proclaimed their own secrets they would not share. I am certain she will have no objection to your using it.
The great thing about this sauce is how easy it is. Just don’t overcook it, or it becomes like candy.
1 6-8 ounce jar of crabapple jelly (apple jelly will do, if you can’t find the real thing)
1 tbs ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground cloves
¼ tsp dry mustard
¼ cup cider vinegar
1. Combine ingredients in a sauce pan.
2. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently.
3. Allow to boil for a few minutes until the spices are absorbed in the jelly and the flavors have combined. DO NOT OVERCOOK.
4. As soon as the sauce is ready, serve in a gravy boat or other bowl.
