Serves 8

1 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
4 squares unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
2 tsp. vanilla
4 eggs
1 nine-inch baked and cooled pie shell*
Whipped cream
1. Beat the butter with the sugar until it is very well blended, smooth, fluffy and pale yellow.
2. Blend in the chocolate and the vanilla.
3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, taking five minutes to incorporate each and using the electric mixer at medium speed.
4. Turn the mixture into the pie shell and chill several hours. Decorate with whipped cream before serving.
