Ameeta's Daily Dal

Here is Ameeta Purohit's recipe for Daily Dal. It is not very coherent because I was trying to take notes, and she really just dumps.

1.       Cook yellow peas until done. Mash in water.

2.       Put oil in separate pan. Cook for a few minutes with mustard seed, tumeric, and cut-up (1/2) tomato, green chilies.

3.       Add 1-1/2 tbs. ketchup, salt, chili powder, coriander, cumin.

4.       Add to Dal and simmer together.

5.       Garnish with coriander leaves. Add juice of 1/2 lemon.

6.       Add more water if necessary to the consistency of tomato soup. Serve over rice.
